2025 Lo-Fi Arinto – Riverbench Vineyard, Santa Maria Valley
A little taste of Portugal, grown right here in Santa Barbara County!
Arinto is a traditional Portuguese white grape variety, celebrated for its naturally vibrant acidity, refreshing citrus character, and distinctive mineral qualities. While widely grown in Portugal, it remains a rarity here in California.
Our Arinto comes from Riverbench Vineyard in the Santa Maria Valley, practically a neighbor to our winery. We love working with fruit grown so close to home, especially when it’s a grape as interesting and uncommon as Arinto.
The grapes were hand-harvested and gently pressed immediately after picking, then fermented and aged for 10 months in a combination of stainless steel barrels and older, neutral French oak. This approach allows the wine to retain its natural freshness while developing additional texture and depth.
Bright citrus notes of lemon and lime mingle with green apple, subtle saline minerality, and a savory, slightly leesy character. The vibrant acidity that defines Arinto is still very much present, balanced by a rounder, more textured palate than previous vintages.
